Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond! I went ahead with the Fender Passport 150 and it works great! There sure are a lot of cables and knobs though -- if this is the simplest on the market then I'm glad I went with it because any more technical sophistication in the equipment and I doubt I'd deal with it very well. =) It says it's only 28 lbs. but boy, that feels heavy after lugging it down a Manhattan city block.

This board was a tremendous help when I was beginning my research so again, thank you for providing such a great resource.
