A simple question, hopefully with a simple answer. I wish to connect my Tascam 38 reel-to-reel to my Soundcraft 200B mixing board. The Tascam has RCA inputs/outputs, which are fed via four 2-channel DBX noise reduction units. The DBX units have 1/4" i/o, and I use snakes that adapt 1/4 to RCA. I wish to feed the 4 subgroup outputs of the mixer into the Tascam via the DBX units. However the board only has XLR outputs for the subgroups and mains. Can I simply use 1/4" to XLR adaptors, or do I need to use a matching transformer, or even a direct-box to correctly and cleanly match the signal levels ? The returns from the recorder are no problem, since the board supports both 1/4" and XLR inputs. Thanks in advance.

You can use adaptors just make there not the impedance matching type or you can build your own. I don't think you need transformers unless you have a noise problem.xlr pins----phone plug
