I will be recording some people singing with a piano this weekend. I will be using Pzm 180 or PS pzms. There is a square column on either side of the group. Where should I locate the mics on the columns.Location 1: Inside, facing the group/piano/each other\
2: Center, parallel with seats and same plane as each other
3: Outside, facing away from group and toward respective walls

Follow Ups:
PZM (boundary layer mics)like a flat surface of at least 4 sq ft, that's 2' x 2'. The larger the surface the lower the bass response. I purchased two sheets (one for each channel) of lucite that is 3/8" thick and mounted the PZMs in the gteometric center of this and mount them on stands 6 feet in the air the two stands 8' apart one at the keyboard and the other at the end of the concert grand. If the lucite is clear then they are not that innocuous but some church officials may object to their use. Ray Hughes

Couldn't really read your diagram, but I would say that the mics should definately face the musicians. Just remember pzm's pick up in a hemispherical pattern above whatever surface they are mounted on. So just imagine a mic with that pattern and where you would place them.

Sorry, i messed up the diagram. The numbers attempt to show placement of mics on columns.
