i need to purchase a DAT deck for very light use (just transferring a few old tapes). i have the opportunity to purchase a SV-3700 in good working condition (recently serviced) for cheap, but it's got lot of hours on it... the seller estimates around 2500 (meter is halfway across). is this still a worthwhile unit or is it at the end of its life?thanks,

There is no way of knowing. I have had panasonics that needed a new head after 2000 hours, others that pegged the 5k mark for a few years before needing replacement. Who serviced it, they can probably tell you more.
