I'm looking at purchasing a new console and I'm having some trouble making a decision. I'm looking for a live FOH board. I have narrowed the search down to either a Mackie 8-bus series, an Allen&Heath gl series, or a peavey SRC. The peavey looks best at this point because it has most of the features I'm looking for within my budget. I need a board with more than 4 busses and would prefer something with 4 band EQ w/ sweepable mids on each channel. Direct out's would be nice but not required. Also a min. of 6 Aux. I really need more than 24 Mic inputs but I could probably get away with no less than that amount. All comments apreciated.

Allen & Heath GL series A++ :-)
Peavey :-(
From the ones you have listed Allen&Heath looks to be the best bet, the Mackie 8-bus series is basically a recording board, if your dealing with acts with riders, some of them say NO PEAVEY,CARVIN or MACKIE on them, so I wouldn't mess with PV otherwise your going to be renting boards for those acts. Some other good ones to check out:Crest Consoles (most anything, depends on what you want to spend).
Midas Vinice Series (Hi$$$, but has that nice midas sound).
Soundcraft Series 2,4,5, K2, or new MH series. LX-7's(cheaper board, but build quality not real strong).Soundcraft/Spirit live 4/8.
Yamaha GA series, maybe m3000(has kind of cheap feel to it from what I've heard.)Hope this helps.

I dont think the mackie 8 bus is a good choice because its setup to be a recording board, although I have used one in a theater setting that worked quite well. Live guys will find it odd to work on. I have not used the peavey stuff. I have used lots of allen and heath boards and like them alot. The GL series is very good with a very professional layout and sound especially for the money. This would be at the top of my list. If I could stretch the budget, a soundcraft would be atop as well.
