So sorry to be blunt.......You bought junk, and got exactly what you paid for.

Its blunt yes, but its also so very helpful. I shall take this new found enlightenment and...
1. Buy a system I can't afford?
2. Have no system at all?
I don't like either of those options. Besides, this was not question solely about the specific equipment.
Thanks!

I bought some Eminence 15" drivers, cast frame, made in USA, for something like $75 each. 80 oz magnet, about 99 dB efficient. In a pinch you could start with piezo tweeters, then add Selenium or Eminence compression drivers and horns and proper crossovers.
The problem with paying too little is that you end up with junk that's worth even less. White van quality speakers covered in rat fur carpet. Living-room karaoke-grade amps with too many blue LEDs and imaginary power ratings. No decent amp will put out DC when it fails... there must be an output relay or crowbar SCR to protect the speakers.
There's plenty of used power amps out there from the likes of Peavey. And some Behringer stuff that is "not bad", like the EP1500 and EP2500.
No excuse for junk equipment. Save up a while longer or shop used at places like Craigslist.
Forgive my bluntness.....I am not politically correct.
Example of deals out there: A pair of 2 month old JBL Eon315 powered tops and 2 month old Eon 518S 18" powered subwoofer and stands. Just like new. I paid $700 from my local Craigslist. I use these for small DJ gigs. My base rate is $375 for 4 hours, and they have already paid for themselves and are now making me money in the month I've had them.
Shop smart, do better.
best,
Otari
