Bassbin, I've not heard of the v900, so I can't answer your question. The Sony 7509 is fairly new, maybe 2 years old. It and it's older brother, the 750-something are used by many broadcasters and recording engineers as a rugged high quality isolation and reference headphone. (Not implying to take away anything from other fine brands.)
I'm a big fan of Sennheiser products, too. Especially their microphones.
They are much older than two years. I bought mine in 2003. They released them as a fix for the 7506s, which were a little wimpy and zippy.
Can't say I've tried any of their high-end mics, but I've used a couple of the shotguns for filming and totally liked them.
Are you a fan of the headphones as well?
