I was wondering if anyone out there would know a tech that can fix a AVC-2500, around the calgary alberta canada area. The power up portion of the unit is the issue, everything else seems fine so the tech who looked at it told me. He said the electronics are to advanced for him to figure out, given parasound won't give him any info being a unauthorized repair center!Stephen.

Hi, Stephen:
Worst case, you might try locating and then contacting John Curl, whom I believe may have designed that product.
John designes many products which are manufactured under the Parasound name, particularly the large power amplifiers for home theater. They are quite state-of-the-art.
Good luck to you!

I would be VERY surprised if John would do little more than refer Stephen to Parasound's customer service department. What, now he's going to be their chief technical support person and receptionist, too?
Call Parasound customer service, get the info for a repair facility or two, and move on with fixing your amp. This should be the obvious path. I know you were looking for a site/tech recommendation, but since that's not working out,...
Hi, inmate51!
I could just ask John, since he happens to live somewhere nearby. I often see him in our local favorite Chinese restaurant, Lily's, over on Hopkins Street in da 'hood.

Well, there ya go!

Stephen: Splash some cold water on your face (which should be easy in Calgary), and then grasp the meaning of what you wrote.
To get you started: "He said the electronics are to advanced for him to figure out, ...". Then, go back to "The power up portion of the unit is the issue, ...".
Sorry to read that you had to deal with that guy, and I'm even sorrier to say that I don't know of a good repair person up there.
You might want to give Parasound a call. They "possibly" have a list of authorized locations, or know of a qualified unauthorized location. ;)
