Tascam is quite good about standing behind their equipment, so if the drive did go; even a few years from now, a replacement drive should not be a big deal.
Sounds like you have some expensive gear, If you really want to add an improvement, buy a Big Ben from Apogee and insert it between the transport and the D to A.

Follow Ups:
Tascam kit tends to be fairly sturdy and takes some abuse. You keep seeing these things in many a pa rack. Since it is only used as a transport it should be fine, all it has to do is to keep the DACs buffer filled with ones and zeros. Not a difficult task by any stretch.
It would seem pointless to me to add an external clock like Big Ben unless you can clock the convertor from it.
the original poster mentioned he was using an outboard Wadia D to A, and the Tascam as a transport. Since the Wadia is not an inexpenive item,
he may want to opt for the added resolution the Big Ben would offer.

But unless he can externally clock the Wadia convertor or he is mixing digital signals from different sources a separate clock won't make a blind bit of difference.
