I've had the following issues with them over time:
- misrepresented the condition of the items they sent: their definition of B-stock was the equivalent of a used item, not in the original box, with cosmetic blemishes; sort of like a 7/10 on Audiogon
- sneaky return policy--beware because you may have to pay freight back for a defective item they send to you, and to fix a box in poor condition that UPS will not accept
- they take weeks to send out return labels, then they tell you that you took too long to return an item and won't provide a refund, so you have to fight to get your money back
- they took weeks to process a refund and then only credited a lower amount, after many calls and emails they recognized their mistake
- their customer service representatives have frequently been curt and rude, even when they were the party at fault
This is probably the worst internet vendor I have ever encountered in years of making thousandsof dollars in purchases over the internet.

Follow Ups:
I have had pretty much the opposite experience.
Very recently I needed a replacement for an item I purchased from AMS on the three payment plan. They sent me a replacement without delay, shipped it FEDEX to ensure delivery by Saturday, and the return label was in the box. It took me a week to ship it back, no complaints from them. This was before I was finished paying for the unit, which I got at a negotiated lower cost, spread over three no interest payments, no credit card required, and free shipping for the origonal unit and the return. I was able to get on tech support online chat whenever I needed for instant answers. Excellent service for a mail order, I dont think I could have done much better with a local store.
Just bough a synthesizer from them. Excellent, clear phone service, unit was brand new sealed in box as represented, price was right, shipped as promised. 10/10. I'm sticking with them. No affiliation.

ZZounds has been great to me, too, so far. Lightning fast service and they package the merchandise well.
