I just posted a new topic, but i didn't see this one you have here. That is the adapter / transformer i was talking about. It seems like the
best thing. It gives a better signal thanjust using a XLR to 1/4" adapter cable.
But im still wondering why the cheap Audio Technica 13 dollar mic (with a quarter inch plug.. no XLR) seems to give such a good signal.

Line level is generally considered on pro equipment to be +4dbv. On consumer equipment around 0dbv. Microphone level is generally considered to be around -57dbv. There is quite a bit of difference. You need a mic preamp to get the level of a mic from -57dbv to +4dbv. One with 60+db of gain. Condenser mic level is generally in the area of -37dbv. Ray Hughes
