I needed a pre with phantom for my ECM. I considered the Behringer, for about two minutes. For the same price the Behringer had two channels, EQ, etc,etc while an ART pre had one channel and one knob. I figured that the Behringer was offering too much for too little, went with the ART, glad I did.

I've used the 1220FX Pro for a year, pretty heavily. Had no problems at all. The mic pre.s are very high gain and very quiet, as are the faders and all the processors and equalizers. One or two of the effects are very nice. And recordings made onto tape are fine. So, with 6 XLR inputs and another 2 line level stereo channels, which I need for recording a four-piece, it's unbeatable for a hobbyist at $180. Sounds as good as my buddy's Mackie. But then again, to my ears, the PG58 sounds the same as the SM58.
