Graphic equalizer would go between preamplifier and amplifier (here the reason a loop is usefull in integrated).

Follow by an electronics crossover.

No loss of power (in heat) from passive crossover.

To adjust the source it's best to use a Parametric EQ with variable frequency and Q (SAE made those in the past) connected in the Tape monitor loop.

That way you can use the best amp for the job.
