Now using an Accuphase DC-61 which has both RCA & BNC inputs standard. The BNC connection definatly provides the best sound.Replacing the DC-61 w/Accuphase DC-300 that does NOT have a standard BNC input. Only way to get BNC input is to buy $500 option board.
I wonder if maybe the DC-300 has a different circuit that provides the best with RCA input or need to take a $500 gamble. Any opinions appreciated.

In theory, if both of these are being used for S/PDIF, then there should be no difference. The BNC is a true 75 ohm connector while the RCA is near 75 ohm. If Accuphase's claim of a jitter-free PLL is true, then the slight amount of interface jitter introduced by a slight impedance mis-match should be moot.
