My cMP2 is actually settled with a complete bold fortune + step 1-16 (jolida batch) + jolida 1-2 + mihaylov 2-3 (jolida batch) + some adjustements for my sound card and my system and some manual deletions.
SQ is very good, my windows folder is about 100 mb and i think it's a good result but I've noted that if I keep stopped (no playing music)my system for 1 or 2 minutes, my PC freeze itself and I need to switch off it from the master switch of PC. I don't know which deletion made is responsible of it.
Can someone help me? Thx in advance!

I just noticed this subtopic. I have had this phenomenon on and off at various stages of tweaking cMP and even before the steppes. Since no one ever mentioned it I assumed it was related to my diffent system running on a Lenovo laptop though following all cMP recommendations that can be implemented on it. Presently I have down all the steppes, jolidas and mihaylovs and approached their screenshots as closely as possible given that I have a different network adapter, different 'sound card', that is, a Weiss DAC202 via firewire with its needed drivers and dlls as well as the thinkpad trackpad which has it own required set of these, etc., instead of a mouse. Windows folder=120mb. [It has been quite an ordeal ferreting all this out.] I get this freeze often if cPlay stands idle more than a short while. I also get it sometimes playing a long work: it will keep playing from track to track if I don't I stop it, but if I do it won't start again. If I double click another track while it is playing it almost always happens. The other strange aspect is that it is not itself regular or predictable. Each new state of tweakage in which this happens seems to settle in such that this freezing often becomes less frequent, as if cPlay is 'learning the ropes'.

Hello, this should happen with my tweaks (at times) during tweaks part 14-16. Just reboot and start doing smth as soon as you boot into windows. Proceed to part 18 as soon as possible. If this freeze happens after part 20, it is a different story, and is explained (imho) by the fact, that AWE still works, and cplay doesn't have enough time to empty the paged memory block with part 21 bios settings, that severely shorten the memory module timings. (It sometimes happens when you are playing a song and suddenly click on another. The system hangs. The only remedy I know is to set CMP into load into memory and always to use STOP button).

THX a lot to you, guys.
In this time I've rebuild from scratch a new cMP2, again, and, with no deletions, THIS PHENOMENON SOMETIMES COMPARE THE SAME!
I'm thinking it was caused by some HW problems ( I use a 2100T with GA H67 MA UD2H B3 mobo)integrated with the serge'explication about RAM.
I've seen too that if I came back, after a while when the system is stopped, and I try to charge another folder on cmp shell, everything works with only a slight wait during the operation.
In this way I don't reboot the system. It's just a little boring...

I have from time to time had similar issues. I run using a Toshiba laptop. It did not seem to make a difference what set of deletions I was using. Usually if I moved quickly using a usb mouse it would freeze. Only way out is forced shutdown.
Recently I have disabled the touchpad in the bios. Turning this off, as well as ensureing the wifi radio is powered off makes a substantial improvement in sound. Similar to turning off unused usb ports.
Try going usb mouse without touchpad. I believe I have not seen this freeze since making this change reqardless of file deletion level.
I have done steppe's 1-22 and have no problem as you are describing. What was last level you had where this problem did not occur? Reload if you have an image to verify no freeze. Then proceed with additional steps (already taken previously) until you rediscover freeze. When you get the freeze again it will at least isolate a group of files that are suspect.

Check to see if it's not hardware related. I am past steppe 23 with no issues, using the same batch files. I suspect the mouse..

Junaid, what is steppe 23? I know steppe 22.

My cMP2: Windows XP SP2 Ru, Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H, Intel Core i3-530, Corsair CM3X160C9DHX 1GB, system drive - Transcend IDE FLASH MODULE TS2GDOM40V-S, ESI Juli@, full linear PSU, NAS - WD My Book Liv
Lol. Sorry, that was a typo. I meant steppe 22 :)

THX for your response to my question.
Freezering concerns only cPlay, mouse ( a wifi wireless model) continue to move on the screen butit is inactive. Now I'll retry step by step to searching for the exact step where freezing appears.
Have you made a mix of steppe' steps with mihaylov' or not?
Now I'll try steppe only without bold fortune ( very effective but poor controllable from an informatic inexpert like me).

I also do not have this problem. I run Steppe 1-16, Jolida 4.5, Bold Fortune through step 9 and Mihaylov 1,2 & 3. I do no touch winsxs folder as I think it destroys the sound. I use autoruns to delete reg entries with missing files. I think that helps stability.
i run only cmp.
Sound is wonderful.
I do get a lock up as you describe when I shut down. always need manual power off.
I would check your asio drivers. just a hunch
The Win_SxS contents shift the tonal balance. Though the reason for this cannot be technically explained, because some may disagree that it has anything to do with the above. But it sure does. Especially in the Bass & Body of the instruments. As I have mentioned earlier, quite a number of times, it all depends on how a system is set-up, such that one deletion may benefit one, & does quite the opposite to the other. I have always been careful with Just this one folder. It's best to be touched at the End for fine-tuning if necessary....

And Yes, I have tried a mix of Steppes with Mihaylov's. In fact my batch files are arranged in alphabetical order in the folder, so when I need to start the process from scratch, I get my 2 lists first, then Mihaylov's 3 lists & then the 16 steppes...

While doing Bold Fortune, u need to be careful in it, as one batch file will remove the system folder. So watch out for that. I had to edit his batch in that section, so as to retain the above...
