I went from SP2 to SP3 based on segers comments. With cMP2 I believe we have 12 or 13 services in Task Manager.

I did not hear any difference when going from 2 to 3.

  I was observing that XP SP3 was slightly easier to customize a la cics than SP2, e.g., quicker to process changes to services, but no SQ difference when all is done.
  
  Also, I've always used a separate disk to install XP SP3 as a whole package. I wouldn't upgrade an SP2 system to SP3 via Microsoft updates.
