I traded in some older stuff I was not using that was just sitting in my basement- a pair of Epos ELS-3's and a Music Hall mmf-phono pack - and got the full $400 credit. Will be interesting to see how it compares to my Wyred 4 Sound Dac-2 DSD running straight into my amp. I'm hoping for a bit more flesh on the bones for piano. And as stupid as it sounds, I also miss having a knob to control volume and source.

Are you also participating in their beta test program?

I'm hoping that it sounds about like my NuWave DSD DAC with more flexibility via the preamp and volume control.
Looking forward to being a beta-tester.The total for the Stellar DAC after trade-in is only $60 more than what I paid for my used Wyred DAC-2 DSD about a year ago. And I like that I have 30 days to compare the Stellar with the DAC-2 DSD.
Another down side to the Wyred is that I have to use a pair of Endler attenuators at the amp end so I can keep the digital volume close to its maximum. Gets a little thinner when lower than about 85% of the max.
Hoping that the active preamp in the PS Audio is transparent and that the DAC section is as you describe in the NuWave DSD.
Also hoping that the PS Audio USB driver is good. I've never had any trouble with the one that Wyred provides.

...skittish about digital volume controls. The way PS is doing it on this seems like the best way to do volume control. I would imagine that lower volumes would not kill resolution like digital volume controls do. Really looking forward to you folk's take on this new DAC!
