For internet radio I'm using the hdmi output of my computer into my dac's spdif input via a Kanex hdmi audio deembedder. My dac is showing the resolution as 16/48, but if I use my computer's usb output the dac shows 16/96 resolution. Does anyone know of a deembedder which will pass a higher resolution? By the way, despite the nominal higher resolution of the usb output, the hdmi route sounds better, that's why I'm using it.

I have the same de-embedder and if the disc will allow it I can get 24/176 or 24/88 with SACDs. I bought it hoping to get the highest resolutions off DVD-As and concert DVDs, but without the handshake from the DAC,it outputs 16/44 most of the time. I finally removed it. For stuff with video I just use the analog outs on the Oppo 83se.
It is either as already mentioned in your settings or some output limitations so you can't copy at higher resolutions.
I wonder if you really have an internet radio delivering 16/96.
That is a very high resolution not even provided by premium streaming services.
The most likely explanation are the settings of your PC.
Have a look at the sound panel of Windows (assuming you are on win)
Everything is probably resampled there to 96 kHz

Thanks, I'll check that out.
