Probably 20 different players ranging from VLC to Jplay. And a variety of machines including SSD's.

If you're going to insist on using your Computer as a player JRMC is probably a pretty decent "One Stop" way to get your foot in the door.Personally(Not being an IT guy),I just use my Auraliti PK100 Djgital File Player to play my, pre-loaded from my Computer, USB drives.I output the player through a BNC cable to a Metrum Hex DAC. I'm not a fan of sending music to DACs using USB as the means of delivery.I'm pretty satisfied with this setup, but I also believe using an Equitech 1.5Q BPT in front of everything plays a huge part in how resolved things sound.
If you are an IT type, you're probably very capable at arriving a suitable
Computer/player path without breaking a sweat! So my "hat's off" to those who are proficient enough to 'dink & donk' at the different ways to set things up .

While it's close I happened to do this comparison last night. I finally decided to try Fidelizer again. Last time I didn't understand it, and worried about possible issues. I don't remember seeing the pdf last time, but reading it was helpful.
I was listening to a song, and on a whim put the CD in the transport. One thing that is obvious is that the PC is putting out a higher signal, I verified this with a spl app.
By a very small margin my transport beats the PC.
