It's like a USB regenerator/ recovery / fixer plus galvanic isolator rolled onto one.

But... for $640 there's the microRendu which is a different animal but may offer many of the same benefits as the LANRover and then some. See my comments to Cut-Throat .
Yep agreed - the mRendu is a built in streamer too. Maybe not as isolating or regenerating as the LAN Rover given the size if the size is any indication...
Feels like it is targeted at PS Audio DS DAC users.
No, just the opposite, owners of the Directstream have Bridge II, which is still supposed to be a little better than the LANRover and is Roon ready, amongst other features.
The LANRover is for people like me who use a laptop for PC Audio or for those who run a computer in another room.
