I installed the drivers on my work laptop and was able to play through the DAC8 just fine. Interestingly, the 48k light came up upon connection.
So, it appears DAC is functioning when presented with its drivers.

At least you know for sure now that it is not your DAC8. It -might- be the need for a specific driver that the mRendu does not have.
Is Jesus the software developer for mRendu? I've seen his name mentioned before but I don't know who he is.

One variable eliminated! Hopefully, there is a workaround. Also, tried old configuration of using the EDO enhanced Touch USB output to the DAC8. Didn't work there either. I upgraded a DAC7 to the DAC8 because the former didn't support anything above 44.1. Silly me - I thought that a newer version would work "better" and still provide the exceptional audio quality of the balanced JFET output.

I believe that is the case. He and John Swenson interact and respond on the Sonore forum over at CA.
I hope there's a fix or a good workaround for your setup with the mRendu. If not, I'm guessing that they will take it back for a refund? Or, maybe it's time for you to buy a shiny new DAC. ;-)
