I posted this earlier at Digital but I realized this should have been posted here.
The PS Audio NuWave DAC (not DSD) unit worked well with me using my transport and bluetooth before I shipped it,
However I got this complaint from the buyer:
"Hi There, I received the PS Audio DAC today and put it into my system. There seems to be a problem with this DAC. It has created a lot of noise in the system (volume control of amplifier has become noisy, lots of crackling and popping between tracks - worse than bad vinyl). I tried different inputs on the amplifier and tried a number of different interconnects but this did not resolve the problem.
Other items connected to the amp (turntable and my existing DAC) do not have these issue.
Perhaps you know a solution to these issues if not I would prefer to return it to you for a refund."
His equipment is:
"Hi, I have it connected to a streamer (bluesound node) via optical (TOSLINK). From then onto my amp. This is exactly how I have my previous DAC (Musical fidelity) connected."
I'm not familiar with computer audio, any idea what the problem might be?
Any help appreciated.

Sounds like someone who is completely lost when it comes to basic audio sytems and/or a scammer.
watch him ask for a significant partial refund in a few days, then you will know he's a scammer.
Interesting how some buyers think that private sales on Audiogon, Craigslist and elsewhere must function under the same rules as brick and mortar retail establishments, complete with no questions asked return privileges. Whenever I buy used, I always assume that the item comes with a certain amount of "caveat emptor" risk.Whenever selling, I've always tried to support the buyer, but when I sell stuff its typically because I don't want it or need it. Taking it back is not an option.
Certainly, to the extent that you're willing and able, help the guy out. The referral to PS Audio support was certainly appropriate. But the item belongs to the buyer now. The responsibility is his to resolve any system compatibility issues.

Hi, I purchased a PSAudio Nuwave dac used a few months back, it is connected to my pc, using JRiver, out usb PSAudio driver, to Nuwave to Feliks Elise tube amp, 6n7tubes for drivers, TS 5998 tubes for power and have zero problems with using this unit with a computer output, in fact using the Felik's as a pre-amp out to a Harman-Kardon 7200 sounds great. No distortion, no problems. Either the unit took a hit in shipping (doubt it) or he has something not connected right. PSAudio recommends usb input so that could be the problem. Ask him to try downloading the PSAudio usb driver and using usb as input, unit has to be powered on before install of usb driver. First time I installed driver the dac was not powered up, checked with psaudio tech support, they set me straight. See no reason why this should not work PSAudio is a very good piece of equipment. Hope this helps
Thanks for the input,
I've urge him to contact PS Audio customer support, but for some reason I can not fathom, he refuses, claiming he does not want a "problem-solving" experience.
I gear worked for you, it does not work for him. He should be willing to try a few things to see if he can get it to work on his system. Sounds like "buyers remorse" to me. That is a very nice piece of equipment, I was using an Emotiva dac before and the PSAudio is clearly a cut above. Even if he would have purchased a new piece, the manufacturer would still want you to try things before returning it.
