You have to be in to that sort of thing to get it to work. Familiar with Computers, DIY Projects etc. - It's not 'Turnkey'.Cut-Throat

Hmmh. You seem to be the expert here.
Mounting a HAT DAC on a PI is a no-brainer. Even for those with two left hands (or two right for left-hander).
And that's pretty much all of "DIY" work to be accomplished.
Pretty much all HAT DACs I came across have drivers available on most popular images.
Loading and configuring a well prepared Audio image, such as Moode, Volumio, Rune or PiCorePLayer is pretty straight forward and doesn't require any Linux knowledge. All of them are 100% browser based distributions.
Loading and configuring a Windows system plus tweaking it for good sound means ten times the effort.
Enjoy.
No expert here! --- But I do know that you are an expert, and I appreciate the efforts you put into the Squeezebox Touch..... The people I am talking about are hard pressed to throw a switch, and when they are faced with dealing with something that looks like this, they check out immediately. So that is what I meant.
