I've read that Cat 5 is fine for Internet HI- Res Downloads and transferring Files to Sony Hap Z1.
Any down side to using 6A, which has much greater, but possibly un-needed capacity?

If you want to hear something different, try one of the flavored Audio Quest Ethernet cables. I was surprised. I bought the Cinnamon and put it between my computer and my server. Lots of body and detail.
I buy shielded CAT-6A. I spring for the ones that are verified with test data - cost about $25-30/each. Fewer dropouts, and thruput seems better under heavy load.

Hey! I have a blog now: http://mancave-stereo.blogspot.com or "like" us at https://www.facebook.com/mancave.ster
I use this crimping tool to make my own cables. It's only for 8PR cables (not the ones for phones or mouthpieces-that's a different tool). I am an electrician (actually an electrical engineering major) use cat5 for short cables with plugs on ends or trhough conduits when they're for phone circuits and cat6 for lan circuits. This crimping tool cost me 5 euros (wholesale price-normally they cost 15 euros)
Does it make a difference?
Don't ask me, but it IS shielded.

backward compatible.
So, onwards...
Find it sounds as good as the higher priced cables, at least in my system.
