I'm convinced that some of the features that made the Touch so successful and widely accepted ultimately compromise its performance:
1. It had to be WiFi equipped for most folks.
2. It had to have its own touch screen based UI.
3. It had to include an internal DAC.
Which is exactly the target of aftermarket add-ons like EDO and what recommended configurations seek to address.
I doubt the uRendu product would ever have existed without the Touch having defined the genre and created awareness for the value of using a compact streamer. The designers at Sonore have kept what works and seriously optimized their unit for enthusiasts. I fully intend to continue using LMS and my remaining Touch leveraging those three features in the garage system.

that you could use the S/PDIF out your favorite DAC and turn off the display and control in via any device hooked up to your network?
The EDO add-on is said to turn off the WiFi along with providing 24/192 capability. I choose to connect via Ethernet, use an external DAC, external linear power supply and have configured the "screensaver" to shut off after 10 seconds. It's about as lean as it gets.
Having said that, I'm not convinced those "tricks" are as effective as using a component optimized from the outset for high bitrate duty.
once you've had a chance to play around with it.
Also purchased a bunch of the DiversiTech cork isolators (intended for HVAC duty - company was a customer of mine) for "mounting". I intend to use the supplied USB adapter and place the tiny 3.5"x2.2" unit behind the DAC and use a stack of isolators to support it.
Which means that I will most likely move my DAC from being on the bottom level of rack to the top and the new linear and HRT Linestreamer to the bottom shelf.
