Have you played with the 2nd gen disc shaped Chromecast? I've read that it supports 24/96KHz audio which is pretty cool, but it needs HDMI connectivity. So, I guess that means an HDMI capable DAC (or AV processor), or some sort of HDMI to Toslink audio extractor. Just curious if you've played with the 2nd gen Chromecast?

no, but there is now one just for audio as well, you can do digital out I think...
I have one with HDMI to digital convertor, but nice to know there is one for audio now...

It must be good, did you see how those hipsters were dancing up a storm on the website? ;-)
Thanks, I'm going to look into it.
My experience with it was a bit disappointing. Perhaps I did not know how to use it properly but I found that unless I was using one of the Chromecast enabled apps such as Tunein or iheart, I needed to cast by having a browser open with the desired stream.
I thought I would be able to open a browser, navigate to the desired URL, click on cast, and then Chromecast would grab the URL and stream it without remaining on the desired page but when I navigated away from the page the sound stopped.
