NAA = Network Audio Appliance
SBT = Squeezebox Touch
RTG = Ready To Go

Deliberately Obtuse?
You never heard of a Squeezebox Touch before? If not, - sorry, - can't help at all....

I've heard of the SBT, never used or seen one. I'm still valiantly holding onto the technology of the previous century.
Hi,OK, - well then, - I'm sorry.
I know you, and your posts, and assumed.....
At least several audio manufacturers are making products that are more single purpose and focus more on digital file playback sources instead of a multifunction computer for one's DAC. The goal is to avoid the computer on the audio rack because it is simply, - a noise box and is not designed for high performance audio.
So they are building boxes that replace the computer with a "networked file processor" or a "mini-computer" that is not suited for many functions like Email, Internet Access, photoshop, word processing, etc. These "stripped down" computers, - like the Squeezebox Touch, - are just designed to play audio files. They usually have a network port, (to connect up to your home network/switch, and your "Server Computer." So they have a network port, RAM memory, processor chip, and USB port. Some have more ports, some even have video connectors.
But in essence, these boxes don't do much at all, or one has to go through major steps to make them have more functions.
They need another computer, or NAS drive, (Network Attached Storage), {Networked hard drive, & processor), to "serve up" the files to the network attached processor (NAA), to play the file...
The Squeezebox system is an example because one would have a SqueezeBox Touch on the audio rack connected via an Ethernet cable that is attached to a home network. Then you have another computer that runs LMS (Logitech Media Server) server also attached to the network with a hard drive that's full of your music files that sends the files to the squeezebox touch to be played.....
Some examples of some of these new devices that are Network Audio Appliances are....
Aurilic Aries Mini
Aurilic Aries
Bryston BDP
Rendu Series
Lumin
Razberri Pi, (configured by user)
Sonus
Bluesound
Olive
SoTM
AurenderHope this helps some, - there are a number of varieties of ways of doing this, every increasing. In addition, there is proprietary audio only protocols that are delivered over the network to interfaces, or straight into DACs, like Roon's RAAT & AES67...
Cheers,

(now I'm just being a d*ck - LOL)
I've been intimidated by these types of solutions. I understand not wanting a PC in the audio rack, but I know how to configure the components and how to run the software (my audio PC has SSDs and passive cooling so it is completely silent as well as low-heat and low-power). These NAS solutions seem more complicated to me. Moreover, I like to have everything hard-wired, ie, no wireless gadgets. I imagine it would be nice to control everything from, say, a tablet but I don't want wi-fi nuking my brain or more RFI in the room. Also, I sometimes use my PC/audio system/TV for watching concert DVDs or Youtube videos of concerts. Can these networked solutions do that?
Yes, I am a luddite-dinosaur.
If you're watching video from a PC/MAC, & the audio "rack" is near the TV, and you're running the TV from part of the audio system then the best answer is no, or without more complications and cost.(quickly, for example), something like the Auraliti PK90 might work... but would be a hassle. The easiest way would be from a QNAP brand NAS drive. You may also be able to use something like a Razberry Pi, (as it has a HDMI video adapter), and some sort of video converter/protocol that would deliver video over your local area network ethernet: which I wouldn't be surprised if there is...
Your tablet would be just like a TV remote control, except you'd never need to point it at, or be in the same room as your TV.
Many people still do have their music files located on their PC/MAC's internal hard drive. Nothing wrong with that, - but it does make it tougher to SHARE those files with other devices: hence, - why people are moving to, and using NAS drives.
But if you want to keep running video concurrently with Audio, in the audio room, then you can still use Roon, (as one example), with a RoonReady Ayre endpoint. The computer will just still be on the audio rack.
I am not saying that one can't get good sound from a multifunction computer on the audio rack. I am just saying that can't achieve SOTA levels of performance without going through great expense.
No doubt home networking is getting more complicated, and, (it looks for awhile), it'll continue to. This is the "internet of things." The market is exploding now with single purpose, or two or 3 purpose, WiFi, network enabled devices.. Microwaves, door locks, thermostats, smart AC outlets, lights, refrigerators, ....

It seems to me if you want a wider audience to understand and get on board with your agenda, you don't assume that everyone understands your acronyms. Nothing asinine about that.

This is not a literate post
I thought you were practicing to become a forum moderator but....
I don't have an agenda..
but, - for some reason, - I'm your target today.
On the other hand, your agenda is to make sure that you launch into an attack on every single solution that doesn't involve tweaking around with multifunction devices that have in the nature of their design the anti-thesis of what we're all about, (or should be), in these forums.

really is:- what is his agenda. Selling more Apple products and interfaces.
Your crime has been that you have been interested in PC audio, and not MACs for audio.
Yes, it is enough of the SELFISH thread capping.
Him and his boyfriend Cut Throat can't stand the exchange of good information.
And to add insult to injury, we are not talking about expensive, exotic products, like $1500 USB cables.
You have put up with too much already.
