Hi !
sorry for the trivial question.
I wonder if a usb printer cable is a usb cable with only the data wires connected.
Anyone who can confirm me this ?
Thanks a lot indeed.
Kind regards,
bg

No, a USB printer cable is just a regular USB cable with all 4 wires connected.
Hi ! thanks a lot indeed
So it is just a normal ubs cable
i wonder why they call it "usb printer cable" given that its use is not limited only to printers.
Maybe he has a better shield ?
Thanks again.
Kind regards,

The same reason why they call it a "subwoofer cable" given that it is an otherwise ordinary RCA interconnect: marketing.
Hi ! thanks for the kind reply.
I was misled by seing it called also "data transfer cable" on ebay.
Given that most of the printers have a certain comsumption and their own power supply i was thinking ... ok. I was clearly wrong.
I wonder if it is so difficult to sell a usb adapter that provides both isolation and a female socket for an external dc.
Instead i have to buy a full package where often the power supply is not that great.
Thanks again.

i wonder why they call it "usb printer cable" given that its use is not limited only to printers. There are other uses yes, but it's main application has historically been for connecting a computer to a USB printer. The "A" style connector to the computer, and the "B" style connector to printers and scanners.
The link below provides some fundamentals of USB including USB-C, which Apple was the first to adopt in a laptop last year in their new MacBook.

Hi ! thanks for the helpful reply and link.
I was clearly wrong.
I am a little disappointed because often when i look for a usb power supply the real precious part is the cable and not the power supply.
I would look at iFi Audio catalog. They seem to have the best quality/price ratio also in these special usb cables.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
