For laptops, yes. For audio applications, probably not so much depending on what you're powering. ;-)
That third pin could be a separate ground, possibly a negative supply voltage, or who knows. Why not post information on the charger itself instead of just the adapter plug?

yep, i'll post results in an independent post when i finish my experiments
with several brands and tweaks
for now i was just curious about that 3rd pin; i don't think it's related to ground,
because there is no ground on most of those chargers...
Could be for anything. Without the charger itself there is no way of knowing for sure. Could be another pin just to provide better mechanical coupling. Who knows.
