" Get it now? ". Yes I do.
Unfortunately, you don't. Sigh.
This cannot be used in transit i.e to power a personal portable music player as per the OP's need.
Not only can it, but I have shown an alternative power supply that can fully replace the normally AC powered wall wart.
A portable (2.5") USB HDD drive has only one connector.
Yes. You connect that to the hub. Which as anyone who has ever used one understands that a USB hub supplies both signal and power.
The Jockery appears only to have power output on its USB outlets, so as to charge external devices.
Or, to power them directly.
I cannot see anywhere that it can also send data from one device to another.
Nor can the wall wart that it replaces. All it does is power the hub.
I gather that you are suggesting using both.
To state the obvious, the answer is yes. You opined that a powered hub could only be driven by wall current. That is most certainly not the case.

OK, you win :-)
It's not a matter of (me) winning. My profession across many decades is based upon problem solving. That's the point of the thread, right? You seem to experience difficulty thinking outside the (your) box.
I presume you are aware that batteries directly supply current to other mobile devices like this:

It seems that my attempt to end the thread lightly and humorously (you did see the smiley?) failed.
Yes I do think that solving the OP's problem is the point. Why do you think that insulting me helps in this?
I was hoping (sooner than later) you'd respond with "Now I get it!"
Alas, I think you still don't understand the notion of powering a USB hub with a battery to support 2.5" hard drives.
