I stream audio from the PC to an Oppo player in the next room for best sound quality.
As do I using LMS via network.
The integrated sound on this Dell PC...
Curious. Which model?

I'm glad I opted for the XPS format.
My older machine (that just died) is an XPS Studio 9000 with the Dell version of a Sound Blaster card. The sound quality was very good. Since there are Windows 10 drivers for this card, I might try it in my new machine.
Hi
i am listening right now to the headphone out from the MB of a " Dell Optiplex 755 " with a cheap AKG k44. The sound is very crisp and present. I am quite impressed (win 7 32 bit, 2GB RAM ... ).
My guess is that the sound card embedded in the MB is very well done.
If you look around you can find one quite cheap
i am not sure but maybe all the different formats in which the Dell Optiplex 755 comes share the same audio chip ?
it is quite good really
I had my ears tested just today. They work ok.
Good luck with your search !
Kind regards,

Nice that the Optiflex has good sound, but that doesn't help me with a sound card for my Dell model which does NOT have good sound at all. I'm probably going to get this Sound Blaster card, which has 96 kHz ADC and 192 kHz playback (beats the Behringer, and for a better price):
Hi yes it looks very ok
Still i have the feeling that some embedded solutions are very well designed and executed, even if not high end of course.
It is difficult to spot them however.
A dedicated PCI o USB card is the "safest" solution in the end.
Let us know what you will buy and your opinion.
I am interested as well in something with high Q/P ratio for another desktop i have.
I like the PCI solution a lot. Fit and forget.
Thanks
Kind regards,

Before pulling the trigger on that Sound Blaster, which may be perfectly alright, you might also want to search Amazon for ASUS sound cards to see if one fit your needs.

Well, too late; the trigger has been pulled and the Sound Blaster is on the way.
Enjoy your new card! I wasn't trying to say that ASUS is superior to Sound Blaster, not at all, I just wanted you to know that there were other options besides SB cards.
