Just think how many features you get with the SBT/LMS "computer"
On the other hand: I'm sure those super high quality RCA connectors are indicators of superiority over any Ed Meitner product.

Where people had paid to see inside,
For entertainment they watch his body twist
Behind his eyes he says, 'I still exist.'"

Not saying the PI-2 is greatest thing since sliced bread, like our friends does... But it probably sounds much better than the price would indicate.
As far as the connectors... Light weight connectors can actually be very good sounding. As crazy as it sounds I have build some excellent cables back in the day with some very light weight really cheap Philmore RCA plugs. Sometimes less can be more. Eichmann bullet plugs are an example of good lightweight connectors. When using bananas I also prefer the lightweight Z plugs. I also like Cardas rhodium, so go figure. :)

And the XOs don't look like 'ultra' low jitter nor does the dac look like the best.
But might be every bit as good as the clocks that come stock on the Amanero board (MEC)?
I have two Crysteks that shut off when sample rates changes in my Hydra Z usb to I2S Bridge. The unit produces the best (square wave integrity without any over or undershoot) clock outputs that I have seen on a scope.
If you have the Hydra-Z in your system, why are you using the Gustard?
"I bought one, connecting it with a Wireworld .3m hdmi cable to the W4S and a Gustard DAC12 XMOS hdmi interface."
because I have several systems and I fancied it as another dac with hdmi at a good price and with good performance and SQ.
I was thinking of the GUSTARD U12 USB XMOS box.
Do you see the three holes (L/R/GND) on the right side?I just soldered three 5 inch Mundorf silver wires in there and connected
these directly to my Anaview amp, which happens to sit right beside my PI.I'd guess that this setup even beats a Meitner including $xxx(x) interconnects by a large margin. ( the forth x refers to Mercmans choices ;) )
The best jack is no jack. The best plug is no plug. The best interconnect is no interconnect. Aaand???
You got it. The best USB cable is no USB cable. ;)
Enjoy.

:-)
Well if you follow much of what is said about Toslink by people who know what they are talking about... It is not that the concept is so bad, but the current transmission hardware we have leaves something to be desired.
