I found explorer gave me access to the music library
It does do but, as I found to my cost in the early days, at a significant loss of sound quality compared to the proper setup. cMP.exe is a replacement for Win XP's shell (confusingly also called Explorer though it's not the same program as File Explorer) that improves sound quality but degrades the OS's flexibility, esp in "cMP Mode". That's why the cMP2 approach was designed for a dedicated audio player only.
Trust me, the difference is not trivial. I'm not clear what issues you're having with cMP/cPlay but strongly advise that you resolve them before going on to "minlogon" and buffer sizes and the rest, all of which (minlogon perhaps not so much) can reasonbably be described as secondary effects.
In passing, I set up a cMP-based system for a friend who wanted to use Foobar. I edited the config file as described above and vaguely recall doing something else (sorry but I forget what, it was some years ago). Using a dual boot setup (one conventional, the other cMP2), the user consistently reported signiciant SQ differences between the two configs.

Follow Ups:
Don't have to twist my arm, the problem is that cPlay is locking me out of the asio set up so I cannot change it from default 16 bit which of course is not supported to the necessary 32 bit and latency is not equal input is half of output, that could be because of the 16 bit default, I had access at the very beginning and was able to listen to some music late at night and very excited, got home after work the next day and had problems it was playing but the sound was scrambled, probably had the settings wrong based on my cpu configuration anyway now nothing, when the settings page in cPlay is opened the top section is grayed out so no access to my asio driver for setup???? I'm also not sure on how to set the player settings considering my L2 cache of 2x256KB and L3 cache of 4MB, right now I'm at output 96k, buffer Tiny, and L2 requirements doesn't allow use of SRC resampler???? Again can't gain access to configure my asio driver in cPlay...what I'm I doing wrong....Thanks Ryelands

With an i3-530 cpu you can user SRC resampling, no problem. At this address you will find Italian site for cMP2 (you can Google translate it) with various extensions to cics original posts and a series of tweaks which should be useful to you.
