Not a lot of details there. Have you tried driver updates?

I tend to skip updates unless crucial which are set to automatic, precisely because of my 2 decades of amateur Windows experience ( What was wrong with SGI? ) which taught me that this scenario happens exponentially more frequently with ever increasing updates. Otherwise, you show up to work in the morning to present your findings in a seminar via programs which no longer function, & refuse to be supported. @#$%&!!Well, that & buy solely OSs that are no newer than 6yo.

The only time I experience program-specific audio failure is when another program, configured for WASAPI "exclusive" mode, is open in the background.
That sounds like a bit of stretch in this case.
If you're listening to movies through headphones, could something be muting the headphone jack, like a plug in another jack?

In my ControlPanel's Sound window, HT decode support were the default settings of the driver for my stereo DAC.
Thanks!
