The metal bar might not have only been there to "control" vibration, some very lightweight components need a little help so that connecting cables don't lift them into the air! But that said, I am not fond of gluing stuff together in an audio component, especially when the heavy parts are involved.

You mean you would not approve of a component maker making a product out of thin stock and gluing metal bars inside to make you think your audio gear is "Built like a Tank"

who says thin shell with glued mass isn't better than solid heavy shell, I'm sure they've done lots of research and their solution was optimal.
