But when you're building products are this price point you can't add much in the way of human labor, additional machining, etc. steps, etc. How much does this thing cost? At a few hundred I'd understand.$230 but I wouldn't be so kind in making excuses for the manufacturer. I would expect better. Come on, a metal bar and other components falling off clanking around inside the case? Is that acceptable?

Sounded like a box of cracker jacks.
Most manufacturers use heavy gauge enclosures instead of gluing metal bars inside.

Well, I know audiophiles who would have themselves a good chuckle that a bunch of guys in an audiophile website are talking about a product worth $230. Back in my hi-fi hayday, those were cheap cables. $2300 was an entry level CDP. You needed to drop $5K for the transport with tubed upsampling DAC to be in the big boys club.
Yes, a product should not arrive in pieces.
But if they fix this and it's a decent sounding kit for $230 then I think it's priced appropriately.
Another way to go is do what the Blue Circle guys did with their USB thingy - fill it with...stuff. Resin? Epoxy?
Can't fall apart and guy would need to destroy it to reverse engineer a schematic...
Cheers,
Presto
