...Apple Support sent me these instructions for backing up your iTunes music to an external HD.
It's not as simple as you might think.

The first couple steps are there to ensure that all your content and metadata are consolidated in one place... something you should have enabled in the first place. It is not complicated. In addition to the built-in Time Machine backup utility, I use Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper to create a fully bootable backup drive. If my main disk fails or needs to be restored, I just boot off the backup.
You should be able to find similar tools on the PC like Acronis True Image.

Or, if you have dedicated HDs, you can just run Chronosynch
...is it available for PCs?
I have been using Chronosync for years without any difficulty and I am not a technical computer user.

Have you every tried using it, that is to say, recovering from a backup? If you haven't tried this then you are probably fooling yourself if you say you've never had a problem. Such is the nature of backups. (Nothing particular against any particular backup software.) You can not count on buckups unless you have qualified your software, hardware and procedures. This must include using your backups to verify that they are good and that you know how to use them.

Mac; and I use it to synchronize folders such as those containing work-related documents, photos, music, and the like. I know it works because I have used data/files of all kinds from the backup drives and the data was copied accurately.
