Audioquest has clearly decided it is a sales based company. They have every right to do that.
They scrap product lines yearly. They have far more product lines and products within those lines than any other cable maker I know. Dealers absolutely hate it based on conversations with several. On top of that they have to compete with Audio Advisor who liquidate product as soon as it is discontinued.
They conduct classic salesy "demos" at shows..tell you what you are going hear..play 30 second snippets of music, and offer you beers in between.
On the OTHER hand, there are plenty of folks satisfied with AQ's core products..digital interconnects, speaker cable, IC's etc.

And we have every right to believe that "sales based companies" are, by and large, "scam based companies." One school of thought say that it's OK to fleece rich fools and that this is somehow the "American way". I ask, "What would it be like to live in a world where all the companies were scammers and all the customers were fools?"
I agree that this discussion has nothing to do with whether or not swapping Ethernet cables makes a sound quality difference in any given audio system and whether or not any changes correctly heard can be correctly attributed to the cables involved and not other factors.

.... I would steer clear.
Between that one, and the most unappealing, rough, primitive Islay Malt (of those I tried, that would be 10-year Aardbeg) - give me the whiskey every time.
I think it is clear from my posts I have little respect for the way AQ does business.
But to be TOTALLY fair..their MO is not just fleecing rich fools.
They do make many entry level, low priced products like their Forest USB cables and their starter interconnects which are just fine. The Forest USB is around $29 bucks.
What they do very, very well, is court the audio press, especially the online e-zine category. They feed them heaps of marketing manure which then gets regurgitated verbatim.
Couple of power cords I tried a while ago were nothing to write home about sound-wise, and a very poor value.
But naysayers dismiss the very idea of Ethernet cables affecting performance (sound quality), which is what I object to.
I have a much better feelings towards Acoustic Revive, having direct experience with several of their products.
To clarify my position..I AM open minded about Ethernet cables possibly affecting sound quality, but I have ruled out the notion that AQ cables will. I did extensive testing across two systems, two streamers, multiple DACs etc.
I too have positive experience with AR products (not the Ethernet cables) and they are a totally different bag.
and I am sure my ignorance is no surprise to SOME who post here...
Exactly how are all of these shields and drains in a CAT 7 cable terminated?
One end? Both ends? Not at all? Floating in air?
