I don't use my G3 as transport in my main systems. I'm just following up on options that come with this device. The UAPP UPNP feature is afaik the first solution under Android that lets you stream bit-perfect to your DAC.
I thought that's worth a post.
I'm running two systems @home.
1. Main system
Cubitruck + SoA + SW filters/crossover + RME Fireface UCX (DIY power supply and DIY cable and USB filter) + Abletec amps
2. Living room
RPI B+ + SoA + JLSOUNDS 5102DAC (DIY power supply and DIY cable and USB filter) + SMSL SA160 amplifier

Hi and thanks for the very helpful reply.
I am open to consider even cheap solutions without prejudice.
You say " I don't use my G3 as transport in my main systems "
bu have you tried it maybe ?
My reasoning is simple. I have the feeling that very simple OS have a potential to sound very good, and android is indeed simple and light OS.
So it is promising.
I have found some converters/dacs that are compatible with UAPP and i am using them with good results
I am using mostly Videolan player app for Android.
But i am looking for something that could be even better.
The search is on and if you have any suggestion i will appreciate that.
Not that Videolan sounds bad, actually the opposite.
I have found 2nd android media player little as 50 USD in the used things market here.
Ok ... a UAPP compatible usb dac is also required.
Thanks a lot again.
Kind regards,
bg
A stock Android is neither simple nor it is light nor it is mature.
It's probably worse then a Windows system.
You'll have tons of services and processes (incl. bloatware) running in parallel.
You'll have all kind of HW modules running at the same time.
And all that hooked up to a single battery.
Then there are serious flaws like memory leakages asf asf.
I don't think my Android devices will soon be used as 1st choice audio transport.
Hi despite the kind and valuable advice being stubborn i have played the all day with an Android media player
You are right ... it is a joke ... both SW and HW.
i got a nervous breakdown
No more questions on this OS.
I will stay on my good old Seven.
Thanks a lot again for the valuable advice.
Kind regards,
bg
