but it seems to me that what you describe should happen not at the transport, but at the DAC. The PS Audio DirectStream DAC, and APL's DSD DAC will take any level signal and upconvert to DSD on the fly. That way, - you don't need to worry about what goes in....
To me, - this is exciting new technology, if well implemented, it should garner popularity.

Yep, does what he asks and very well.

$6K is a bit steep. At least for me at the moment, I am intrigued by that DAC though, I almost bought it one night from the PS Audio web site when I was drunk.
I purchased a brand new factory sealed unit from an authorized dealer for $3.4k Still not inexpensive, for sure. I think there are deals running (or at least were) where for the $6k price you get both the DAC and the PSA Perfect Wave Transport.

If so, - who does it sound??

I find it to depend on the software being used. It doesn't seem to have a sound in and of itself but changes whether I'm using Foobar 2000 or JRiver 20. And that's a good thing, I think, because to me it indicates that it's transparent and reflects what's pushing the music to the DAC.It can be subject to pauses and skips and was especially so until I updated to the Pikes Peak firmware. Now not as much but it still happens. When using my Oppo 105D in the same fashion it can also exhibit pauses but not skips. I think I have a fairly robust wireless system (Xfinity Gateway) so I don't know what isn't optimized that these artifacts occur with both the PSA DS DAC and the Oppo.
Hope I answered, at least in part, what you were asking.

And ran an Ethernet cable from the router to my system. Bingo! No more of that nonsense with the foibles of wireless. Frankly, the cable was easy to run and the performance is much, much better than wireless - no more rebuffering, skips, etc.
IMHO, wireless is a technology that is *almost* all there. I simply got tired of constantly playing Network Engineer when I just wanted to be playing MUSIC! A hardwired connection is the way to go if you possibly can...

I agree that a wired connection is basically trouble free and there is an Ethernet connection on the Bridge to which I could attach my PC and a USB A connection on the Bridge as well. There's also a USB B connection on the basic DS DAC that I've used with very good results. I feel that playing RBCDs on my 105D player attached via coax to the DS DAC and the USB B/PC connection are where the DS DAC really shines.
I find that some days the wireless/Bridge interface is almost trouble-free and other days, I can only listen a little while before the dropouts, etc. get to me. If I had a dedicated music PC without anything else running it might be a different story but even something like receiving e-mail can cause a hiccough during playback.
I'm going to try the PC/Bridge Ethernet connection soon and see how that stacks up versus the USB B interface.
Thanks for the suggestion.

The bridge can be used with an ethernet cable correct? I know that it's an add-on card, - but I thought that it was like the Sim Audio Mind that had its own software, so that you can stream from the Internet or your NAS drive?
Or do I have that wrong?

Yes, you're right -- it does have an Ethernet connection but I've never used it that way, only wirelessly. I have external hard drives and solid state drives that I can connect to my PC (or 105D for that matter) but don't have an NAS that'd be able to push the music on its own.
Above is a less than clear photo of the Bridge I have showing both its Ethernet and USB connectors.

directly from over the Internet...
Maybe someday.
