I do own an IPad, but am looking at a new desktop and wonder if a Mac Mini is a viable option? I use a Steinberg 24192 usb interface and Sony Sound Forge software for a DAW which has Mac versions. I Would appreciate knowing the pros and cons. Thanks.

Consider getting as much memory as you can afford in the Mini, and ideally a solid state drive.
How do you use it on a Mac?
OSX too:
Given that the hardware for a Mac and PC don't differ, the real difference is the OS and the Apple philosophy of uniting all of their devices together. This really doesn't enter in to your needs. A Mac is easier to set up since there are far fewer options for you to select.
I don't see any reason why the Mac Mini wouldn't work if your software supports OSX.
I disagree. The hardware between a Mac mini and one of the hundreds if not thousands of PC models available can be very different. There's a lot of chips in them there computers.
