My son in law listens almost exclusively to streaming music (IPad/Iphone) and vinyl. They have a new house and I am going to give them some of my old components, speakers, etc. Unfortunately, the Yamaha receiver I have does not support digital. Is there a dac or two you can recommend with RCA outs for under $100? Should I be thinking bluetooth? Headphone out? Thanks for any suggestions. They are non-critical listeners, so far.Or maybe should I think Apple TV and get some type connector to port the sound to the receiver, they could use the HDMI to connect to their flat screen. That would seem to add more functionality/capability.

Link to Pure i20 for pics and details.
I just picked up a Pure i20 from amazon for 92.00 and I actually love this little gizmo.
Docking station that charges, has built in dac with analog outs, coax and optic digital outs and a little remote control.
All I wanted it for was to stream Pandora / Spotify and have access to my itunes library. I had an iPhone 4s that was sitting around doing nothing so I wiped it clean, turned all features off and put it in airplane mode. It's sole purpose now is streaming and itunes collection.
If info online is correct it's got a Cirrus 24/192 dac in it that sounds pretty darn good for a mid-fi system. Honestly was surprised at how nice it sounded compared to the headphone out to integrated that I was using. For fun today I hooked my PS Audio dac to it via digital coax and have been A/B'ing all afternoon and for a hundred bucks it holds up well enough that I'm not going to buy another dac for this tv room system. It'll do just fine on its own.
One big thing to check what model iphone is going to be used? Pure's website has a list of compatible devices. Second big thing is I would not trust my ipad docked on this station unless I add some form of stability........it would be way to top heavy to trust.
Thanks, very interesting.
Schiit Audio is still selling version one of the Modi (usb input) for $79 plus S&H.

I would suggest the sonos connect for $350, they can get all the internet service on that and control with the ipad and iphone. It has RCA outs, I use the digital outs for a better sound, but the RCA outs should be good for non-critical listening, then you hook that up to the receiver.I use it and it is great. I have a similar story to yours, a few years ago my newlywed brother also bought a new house and he got some kick ass gear from me, years later his little kids poked holes in all the speakers :)
