For those of you who posted helpful comments below, thank you very much! Your time and consideration are very much appreciated!
Sadly, I have to conclude that this product is not for me. I'll spare you the details, but I will say that:
I'm not spending 99 euros on this. Heck, I'm not spending any euros on this.
It is far less intrusive than I thought it might be. I noticed no defects in routine use during my brief experience with the product.
It seems to cleanly uninstall.
While this may seem to be an underwhelming endorsement, so far as I can tell it's safe to preview this product to see if it makes any difference for you. Whether it is worth 99 euros, or any euros at all is a separate question.

Follow Ups:
did you follow their advice? DAC link settings? Buffers? Did any of these settings make a difference?
Wouldn't you think that the JPlay authors would know how best to configure their own program? ;) But seriously, I spent a full evening fiddling around with the program's control panel with no joy to show for it.
Were you able to get it to work? What settings did you use?

Still in the process of picking up a laptop to use. Don't want to mess with my flawlessly working rig :) Was going to use my wife's and wipe it clean, but she dropped it off the table last week and now it just walks in circles...Still want to try JPlay with all the fixin's though.

That's what restore points are for!
