The OS is better. No doubt about it my mind.

Agreed. It's frustrating that the software I want is only available on Windows and that Apple charges so much for its more capable machines.
Apple charges more for their machines, because the are still roughly 5% of the market. If not for the iPod/iPhone they would have been acquired.
Curious, what software that use on Windows do you find no compatible package for Mac.
On the Audio processing side I find I want for nothing...but you may have different needs.
Also love the driverless factor.
I'm thinking of programs like Acourate. If you're doing room or driver correction or digital crossovers, the PC has a decided advantage over the Mac, or at least it did last time I looked into it. Whereas if you're just doing a straightforward audio server or HTPC, I don't think there's any need for Windows.
You could also create room correction filters in a PC and then convolve them in the Mac, but that seems awkward, at least if like me you don't have a serious laptop . . .
Gotcha. Since my computer is no where near my stereo..it acts a NAS and library management center.
Makes sense. I keep my own computer in another room to eliminate fan noise and I love the arrangement but it's a bit of a PITA to run the cables. I don't want a dedicated HTPC though because I like to work/surf/etc. in my listening room.
