In Reply to: RE: Aune Audio S16 DSD DAC initial thoughts using Windows 10 preview posted by soundchekk on February 21, 2015 at 05:46:03
I will give that a shot, the input is locked at 32/384 with the other two kernels I've tried. You can select the DAC but no sound when played. Although it seems to be playing the track, just no sound.
I can confirm USB works fine via Windows 10 and the drivers provided. I will fiddle around with Ubuntu and report back.

As I wrote have a look at my troubleshooting blog. Some hints:
Open a terminal:
aplay -l
## Now you'll see if the card is recognised.
lsmod | grep snd_usb
## will list the usb sound driver, if loaded.
## now start playback and run below command
cat /proc/asound/cardX/stream0
## replace X, with the card number for your USB DAC that's been shown in the aplay output
## In the "Playback" section of the output you should see "Status: Running"
## If that's the case. There's hope.
## Now you need to run alsamixer
alsamixer -c X
## X needs to be replaced again with the card number.
## move all volume controls - if there are any, all the way up.
## Settings will be stored at shutdown.
## E.g. The AQ Dragonfly also defaults to muted outputs!!
## in case there is no alsamixer, install it:sudo apt-get install alsa-utils

got Ubuntu 14.10 installed, works fine out of a clean install. Installing Kodi now on top of Ubuntu, going to do more fiddling ;)
I can verify Linux works now with Aune Audio S16
