Well,
I seem to remember him describing that his Auralic Vega, Metrum HEX and Ayre QB-9 DSD DACS are all equipped with (internal) SELF POWERED USB Modules. No need for an external 5 Volt/Ground wire pair at all. Accept for the potential need for a temporary EXTERNAL 5 Volt/Ground hand-shake between the computer and DAC/S.
I am not that familure with the "Wyrd" product that you suggest may solve his drop out issues, but if it is designed to replace the power/ground comming from the Computer's USB out, then.

Schiit Wyrd is a regenerative usb hub with very good 5V. It should tell you if the issue is due to a poor usb out on your computer.
Almost ALL newer DACs supply their own USB 5 Volts internally. This eliminates the need for fixing the sketchy USB power traditionally delivered by the Computer. The option is always there to allow the computer to continue (5 Volt) powering these two wires leading into the DAC, but it ALWAYS degrades the sound of the DAC. In many cases it is needed to leave (dual USB cables) the Power leg of a split USB cable connected for the required "Hand Shake". But, then REMOVE it for the best sound. Your DAC WILL remain powerd up.
If the Wyred's purpose is to improve the power/Ground, then it has been rendered useless in my case. And that is via three currently popular DACS.
If the Wyrd device offers a great benefit to the two DATA wires, then I'm very interested.
Clearly you have your own theories; I am signing off.
But I don't think you are correct in what you said.
Oh HELL NO!
You don't get to get off that easily. What is it about the above that you do not agree with? You do not agree that many currently available DACs are internally/self powering the USB? That the "Wyrd" device is not needed in this case (only when a DAC provides it's own 5 Volt power?
Or do you disagree that continuing to supply an external (from the computer) 5 Volt/Ground while the DAC supplies it's own WILL lower sonic potential?
Don't run away, come back and fight like a man. At least try not to take this shite too damned seriously. After all, it's supposed to be fun Aint it?
