Thanks, got 128dsf and 352DXD. There is a problem with the DXD download, one has to right click and save to; otherwise the download location is missing and download disappears! No such issue exists with 128dsf.
This is potentially a can of worms. The dsf download sounds a liitle muffled compare to the DXD, with repeated playing of 30s section from 2 minutes into play. The difference is also very marked with the opening 30s. I much prefer the DXD with sharp roll of, compared to the dsf with 70kHz filter.

Fred, thanks for the notice on the DXD free button. I was able to recreate. We will fix it.
Realize that your can of worms is due to your DAC, not the downloads. They are each separate transfers from the same analog tape, so any differences are due to the sweetspot of your DAC (every DAC has one).
.
that the DXD version sounds quite close to my upsampled CD - the original 'audiophile' version.Sweet spot? My other Channel Classics dsf files sound rather good into my dac.
Same transfer? The 128dsf file has a different play time from the DXD, and the file title comes out totally different when loaded into my Player!
One says High Life, the other Naxos***************

Yes, the free track was redone as it was an analog tape glitch the first time; I was unable to fix its tags before we put it up on the site for free. The fact that the play times are different makes my point; they are each done separately (I didn't say "same transfer" I said "separate transfer from same analog tape"). If they were upsamples/conversions of one another they would ipsofacto have the same running time Fred.I stand by my sweetspot comment, too. You seemed to have misread all of my post. Just because Jared's DSF files sound great doesn't mean that native DXD recordings couldn't sound better on your DAC. In the one instance you have where both exist with no other variables you prefer DXD. I often do too, on a couple of my DACS (like Chord Hugo).
