I agree with everything Michael says.
However, I think it would have done more to expand the demand for hi-res (this is what we really need) to subsidize the recording companies and motivate the Apple computers of the world to offer the playback capability on their devices using a standard. A holistic approach is needed IMO.
Ask anyone on the street if they know what Pono or 24/192 is about. They will have no idea. This is the problem. Everyone knows CD and MP3.
Follow Ups:
You have to start somewhere, right? How many people knew about "mp3" even 10 years ago? For that matter, what proportion of the public knows about Pono compared to those that know what an "Empirical DAC" is?Do you not think that Pono's success might also help your enterprise?

I have no issues with what Pono is trying to do, just how they are doing it. I just think there are better ways to get everyone on board.
One way is to see this promoted on TV and social media.
