Hi and thanks a lot for the very helpful advice
Honestly i was surprised, by this is due also to my ignorance on the matter
When i read the MTBF figures of 1.000.000 hours i thought that reliability were not an issue for hard disks
Instead now i understand that is indeed an issue
Yes Hitachi disks come out very well from these tests by Backblaze
And after this i have read other very positive opinions on them
A little less common and a little more expensive than the other brands
I see here a 3TB 6Gb/s model ... not exactly cheap at around 160 USD
But quality very seldom comes cheap
Thanks again
Kind regards,
bg

Hi Mr Lauck,
thanks a lot for the interesting link
Unfortunately my understanding of theory/math has always been very limited
On this basis i find easier to understand and also very telling these reports from online backup Companies like Backblaze about failures.
This for me is the best way to check the reliability of brands/ models.
Huge number of units under continuous stress.
I am also sure that this issue of understanding the hard disks reliability is of paramount importance for these Companies.
And also garph like the one attached above are quite easy to understand also for me
In the end the Backblaze reports are to me a great endorsement of Hitachi drives
But also some WD drives seem to perform OK.
I think i will go with some WD RED in the end.
Thanks a lot again.
Kind regards,
bg
