The 'snubbers' on the iFi Mercury USB cable reminds me of a conversation I had in a thread a while back where an inmate said across a couple posts:
"Last thing to do is to use ferrite USB cable.... Even though it causes usb errors! Chokes are not nice things to use. Ever heard of hysteresi? "
Here we're discussing an audiophile USB cable that features three custom-made metal oxide ceramic RG noise filters (ferrite chokes!) for the ultimate in clarity and quiet."
A 'ferrite choke' is a metal oxide ceramic. ;-)

Never look back :)
you seem to believe in 'gadgets'.
A snubber is a snubber, whatever it is made off. Ignorant inmates will focus on the material, not the principle of operation.

IMHO, understanding properties of a material is fundamental to understanding its principle of operation and proper application. Ask any components engineer.

Interesting comment from some earlier posts considering a number of USB cable makers use ferrite chokes on their cables, including a handful of audiophile USB cable manufacturers.
The snubbers on the iFi Mercury are custom-made metal oxide ceramic RF noise silencers.... A fancy name for ferrite chokes!
Ferrites = metal oxide ceramics in various compounded mixes to achieve specific electrical characteristics.
A few books worthy of your consideration:
Looking back gets me into trouble. For $129/m it might be a nice cable to try out.
